We’re a family-run plumbing business working across Bellville, Durbanville, Parow, Goodwood and Brackenfell. Two vans, both of them ours, both of them answering the same phone.

Most of what we do is unglamorous: geysers that pack up on the coldest week of the year, drains that back up when the whole family’s home, taps that have been dripping since March. We turn up when we say we will, and we tell you what it costs before we start.

Prices

What plumbing actually costs

Most plumbers will not put a number on a website. We will, because you are going to ask anyway and you deserve to know before you phone.

These are honest ranges for the Northern Suburbs, not quotes. The final number depends on what we find, and we tell you the price before we start work — never after.

A full replacement includes the unit, labour, the drip tray and vacuum breakers where needed, and the Certificate of Compliance. A quote that excludes the CoC is not a real quote.

Leak detection, non-invasiveR1,200 – R2,500

What makes a job cost more

  • Access — a geyser in a tight roof space takes longer than one in a garage
  • Age — old galvanised pipework often has to be replaced rather than repaired
  • Parts — imported or non-standard fittings
  • Time of day — 2am costs more than 2pm, and we will say so on the phone

On insurance

Most household policies cover a burst geyser. If yours does, the number above is largely academic — we deal with assessors regularly and will handle the paperwork with you rather than leaving you to it.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

The ones that come up on almost every call. If yours is not here, phone and ask — we would rather answer it than have you guess.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

For emergencies and unscheduled visits, yes — R250 to R500 in business hours, more after hours. We tell you the amount on the phone. If you book a scheduled slot online, there is no call-out fee at all.

What do I do while I wait for you?

Close the main stopcock — usually at the boundary wall near the meter, sometimes under the kitchen sink. Then open the cold taps to drain the pipes and take the pressure off. If water is anywhere near plug points or the DB board, switch the electricity off at the board. Buckets and towels for the rest.

My geyser is leaking through the ceiling. Is that covered by insurance?

Usually. Most household policies cover a burst geyser and the resulting damage. Phone us first to stop the water, then your insurer. We deal with assessors often and will do the claim paperwork with you.

How long does a geyser replacement take?

Half a day for a straightforward swap. Longer if access is poor, if the pipework needs reworking, or if the drip tray and overflow were never installed properly in the first place — which is common in older houses.

What is a Certificate of Compliance and do I need one?

A CoC certifies the installation meets SANS standards. You need one for any new or replaced geyser, and you will need it when you sell the house. We issue one on every job that requires it. If a quote does not mention the CoC, ask why.

Why does my drain keep blocking?

A drain that blocks repeatedly usually has a cause — tree roots, a collapsed section, or a fall that is too shallow. Clearing it again treats the symptom. We put a camera down when it recurs so you can see what is actually there instead of paying twice a year forever.

How do I know if I have a hidden leak?

Turn every tap in the house off, then look at your water meter. If it is still moving, water is going somewhere it should not. That is the whole test and it costs nothing.

Do you work after hours?

Yes. Genuinely — the phone is answered at 2am by someone who does the work. After-hours rates are higher and we say so before we come out.

Do you guarantee your work?

Twelve months on workmanship. Parts carry whatever the manufacturer gives, which we will tell you at the time.

Which areas do you cover?

Bellville, Durbanville, Parow, Goodwood, Brackenfell, Kuils River and Kraaifontein. If you are just outside that, phone and ask — sometimes we can, sometimes we will point you to someone closer rather than charge you for the travel.

Can you tell me the price over the phone?

For some things, yes. For anything we have not seen, no — and be careful of anyone who does. We would rather give you an honest range on the phone and a firm price once we are looking at it.

What will you not do?

Quote one price and charge another. Clear a municipal blockage and bill you for it when it is the City’s line. Sell you a new geyser when the element is the problem.

Still not sure?

Describe it on the phone. We will tell you honestly whether it needs a plumber or whether it is something you can sort yourself in ten minutes.
